Peter Koob graduated from the University of Economics (Julius-Maximilians Universitaet, Wuerzburg). From 1989 to 1990 he attended the trainee program with the Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechsel-Bank (Hypo-Bank), Munich, and then joined the London Hypo-Bank Branch where Mr. Koob was engaged in corporate financing. From 1990 to 1994 Peter Koob held the key account manager position in corporate financing in Bayerische Hypotheken - und Wechsel-Bank of Wurzburg.

In 1995 he took office of Vice-President of Finance in Magna Safety Technologies a manufacturer of  steering wheels and airbags. In 1997 Mr. Koob was appointed as Executive Vice-President for Finance in Magna Europe AG and in 2001 also became Executive Vice-President of Finance in Magna Steyr AG.

From 2002 to 2010 Peter Koob held the position of Executive Vice-President for Corporate Development in Magna International Inc. Canada.

In December 2010 he joined Oleg Deripaska in Basic Element Group as Vice-Chairman responsible for the machinery and construction sectors.
