Introductory Remarks
Bob Turner was born and raised in
Queens, NY and despite opportunities to live elsewhere, has
remained a lifelong resident of the 9th district he now
represents. NY-9th district is very diverse and has a
large population of Russian speaking citizens. He has been happily
married to his wife Peggy for 46 years, has five children and 13
grandchildren.
After graduating high school and
serving a tour in the United States Army, Bob worked his way
through college earning a B.A. in history from St. John's
University.
He approached his career with a
"roll up your sleeves and get to work" mentality by starting his
first company, Orbits Communications, in 1984.
Since then, he has spent over 20
years starting and building companies that have created thousands
of jobs. He has served in leadership positions such as
Chairman, CEO and President for some of the most successful media
companies in the country.
After retirement Bob saw that there
were real problems in Washington, D.C. and, being a lifelong
problem-solver, he just couldn't help himself.
He decided to run for Congress and
in September of this year, the people of New York's 9th
Congressional District elected Bob Turner to represent them in
Washington D.C. making him the first Republican since the 1920's to
be elected to the seat.
While in Washington he plans to use
his leadership abilities, business experience and problem solving
skills to help create an environment where businesses can grow
and create jobs.
Ladies and gentlemen, Congressman
Bob Turner.
